Recommended Books
There are an abundance
of Reiki books on the market, the ones that I have listed below I personally
have found to be the most helpful to me for varying reasons. Some include
personal accounts of peoples journeys with Reiki, how it has changed their
lives and how the 21 day clearing process on each attunement affected
them. Other books concentrate on research into the origins of Reiki and
others describe the attunement process and have published the Reiki symbols.
We each have our own individual paths to tread, so, as with choosing a
Reiki Master, its best to use your intuition and you will find the book
you are personally looking for and which answers your questions. I have
also included some recommendations on other books relating to spiritual
and psychic healing, Kinesiology, Tibetan Buddhism and Tibetan medicine
as I have found the information and techniques in these useful in my healing
work.

Thorsons
Way of Reiki
Kajsa Krishni
Borang
Price £6.39
|
A very good
introduction to Reiki.
This was the
first Reiki book I bought. It was a joy to read and gives some idea
of peoples reactions to the Reiki Attunements from the perspective
and observations of the Reiki master teacher. Kajsa writes about
her own spiritual journey and how she found Reiki and also brings
in the story of the lady who initiated her and of how this Reiki
Master came to be initiated into Reiki by Mrs Takata, the Japanese
lady who brought Reiki to USA. The author uses the traditional story
of Dr. Usui that was used when Reiki was first introduced to the
West, but apart from this, the real essence of the transforming
power of this healing energy comes through in this book

Tanmaya Honervogt
Price £10.39
|
A
beautifully illustrated book, with lots of wonderful colour photographs
to link in with many personal testimonies of the Reiki attunements
and the changes these have made in peoples lives. A really good book
for anyone who is starting on their Reiki journey and wants to get
more of an idea about the Reiki 'Experience' rather than the history
of Reiki and its origins. Thoroughly recommended.

Reiki
Diane Stein

This
book was quite controversial when it was first published because it
made available to the general public, for the first time, the Reiki
Symbols used in the Reiki attunements/ healing and instructions on
the attunement process. These symbols up until that time were only
shown and made available to someone who had been initiated/attuned
to the Reiki energy and were regarded as secret.
Diane explains
her reasons why she made the decision to publish them and I Think
they are interesting, and her motivations come from a genuine heartfelt
wish to make the knowledge of Reiki more available to the wider
public. With her extensive descriptions of the symbols and their
spiritual meanings I feel that the sacredness of them has not been
lost.
I highly recommend
this book for anyone who is thinking about doing a Reiki 1 class,
because it covers aspects of Reiki and other energy work that some
Reiki teachers do not always bring into their teaching, until maybe
Reiki Master training, which could take someone up to three years
to feel ready to undertake. These aspects of the training are essential
in fully understanding how energy moves through the chakras and
circulates around the body through certain channels. The information
that is available in this book will enable anyone who has not been
taught certain energy techniques in Reiki 1 to start practising
the techniques at the beginning of their Reiki training. They can
start integrating them into their lives and develop a more thorough
understanding of their own energies in their body, not only the
channelled Reiki energy. The energy techniques which are part of
the system called 'Qi Gong' are an essential part of being a Reiki
Master and passing attunements in Usui Tibetan Reiki (non-traditional
Reiki). It is much better to have had a few years practising them,
than only learning about them when you are being taught at Reiki
Master level!.
Diane also gives
an interpretation of Reiki as part of the Bodhisattva path to enlightenment
in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, and explains that the Reiki symbols
and path may have possible links to the Vajrayana Tantric symbols
and their corresponding meanings.

Healing With Spirit Guides And Angels

I
thoroughly recommend this book.
I found this
book a very inspiring read. It covers not only Reiki, but also explains
different methods and meditations for developing your psychic connections
to your spirit guides and to your own inner awareness. It also covers
clearing Karma from past lives and this life and opening the channels
of communication to the spiritual plane. In her most recent book
'Energy Balancing', she develops this further, with
very detailed explanations of the chakras and their links to the
many levels of our energy fields. She also discusses the subject
of Soul Retrieval.
Diane Stein
is a talented writer and is gifted with the ability to explain quite
difficult concepts relating to the above subjects in an easily accessible
manner. She also brings in her own experiences on her healing journey
and how the methods she describes in her book have enabled a transformation
in her life. Anyone who has suffered an abusive childhood will be
helped enormously by reading this book. It gives methods and meditations
for healing these issues and empowering the core soul/self.
I would, however,
say that the feminist slant in her writing could make men reading
her books feel a little excluded, But the basic message in this
and her other books, is, that through doing these meditations, visualisations
and energy exercises, everyone can find their own innate
inner strength, integrity and healing energy.

| Medicine
Dharma Reiki
Lama Yeshe
£14.99
|
A
very interesting read. Lama Yeshe describes his research and discoveries
linking Reiki to the Tibetan Medicine Buddha teachings and the 'Tantra
of the Lightening Flash' and how certain aspects of this form of Reiki
that were, and are, taught in Japan are missing from the way it is
taught in some schools of Reiki in the West. He has also published
in this book part of the diaries of Dr Usui, which are filled with
quite humorous descriptions of Dr Usui's impressions of Western culture
in the late 19th century.

| Energy
Medicine
Donna Eden
£11.99
|
An
absolutely groundbreaking book regarding Energy Kinesiology and energy
work in general. This book is also written in an easily understandable
way, and covers not only Kinesiology muscle testing techniques that
can be used by the reader for energy balancing the body, but also
describes working with the chakras.
Donna is a naturally
intuitive healer, and although this book does not cover Reiki, it
really is a must for anyone involved in energy work, massage therapy
or who is a medical practitioner practising allopathic or complementary
medicine.

| The
Tibetan Book of Living And Dying
Sogyal Rinpoche
£8.99
|
A
thought provoking read that covers the authors viewpoints on the western
preoccupation with materialism and the way we treat the living and
dying. I recommend this book to anyone interested in Tibetan Buddhism.
The timeless message of the Buddha, was that, there are methods that
can be used for the alleviation of the 'suffering' that is so often
a part of the human experience. It is also a very joyful celebration
of our potential in life to overcome our personal difficulties/traumas
and realise our own inherent Buddha nature of Wisdom and Compassion.
The ideas conveyed
in this book are quite different from the way we view death in the
West, or have done so in the last hundred years or so, and provide
an alternative viewpoint on the only experience in our lives that
we can be really certain about having to face.!
The book is
very useful for anyone who is working with the dying in a professional
sense, i.e. in hospices and hospitals and also for anyone who has
a terminal illness or who is supporting a friend or close relative
who is facing death. Anyone who has been touched by the death of
someone close will find great comfort from reading this book.

subjects.
